Dream a Little Dream: House Interiors

I’ve always had a thing for big houses so it should come as no surprise that I recently subscribed to a handful of house decoration/architecture blogs. I’m not sure why I never thought to search for cool houses before but I suppose that’s the exciting part of the internet – always something to discover!
Bill and I often talk about our ‘ideal/dream’ houses (ok, I talk to him, he listens) and I’ve found I can be all over the board in terms of what I like. I’d first and foremost love to live somewhere where a car wasn’t required and I could walk to the grocery store and have a million choices for shopping, dining and nighttime entertainment. I’ve also thought about the more remote home, on a lake, in the mountains, with lots of animals for me to feed and coerce into our yard. Ideally I think I’d love to have both and just alternate locations! We’re dreaming here anyhow.
That all being said, I’ve been trying to view the images of the blogs I’ve subscribed from an opinionated stance: either I would love a particular layout or design of a room to be in my home, or I’d rather it just be someone else’s house. When I was younger I did something similar, although instead of images from the internet, I used images from the Sears and JCPennys catalogs. I admit my taste has changed a bit from those days. Ha. I’ll post them at some point as they are worth a giggle or two.
Based on a few recent house postings, I’ve come up with 3 images to start which I thought I’d share that rank on my ‘I’d love this to be my house!’ list. I’m big into themed rooms too – so if I ever get a house the size of the Biltmore, I would make sure each room had a theme.
I would love to party/host events in a room that looked like this:
How uber swanky!

I can picture myself reading magazines and drinking my morning coffee in this setting:

I love the really tall ceilings, the bright white walls and the hint of color here and there. It’s totally waiting for me to spill red wine all over it!

Ooooh, Ahhh. I love the dark wood in this kitchen. It’s so rich looking and just says “I help produce awesome meals.” I would love to redo our current kitchen this way, as the rest of our house has a similar (um, but much smaller and cheaper) theme.

What I find so funny about these images is that if I had one house with all three of these rooms, the house would feel very disconnected. All 3 are so different in theme and design. If I was forced to pick one and do the whole house in that theme? I’d say the top image – I’m really liking the whole grey, eggplant theme lately. Nice nice, very nice.
How about any of you out there (er, all 2 of you maybe?) – any houses or interiors that you’d love to have?
